Chess Tournament Manager ("the App") is an Android application for running chess tournaments. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App and associated web services.
1. Information We Collect
Data stored locally on your device:
- Players (names, optional FIDE IDs, optional ratings)
- Tournaments, pairings, and results
- Backup files you create (stored where you choose)
This data remains on your device unless you choose to export it or publish a tournament to the web.
Data shared when you "Publish to Web":
- Tournament name, type, rounds
- Player names, FIDE IDs, ratings, standings
- Pairings and match results
Publishing is optional. Published data is stored in Firebase (Google) and is viewable at a public URL you can share.
Automatically collected data:
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage statistics (e.g., app opens, feature usage) to help improve the App.
- Firebase Remote Config — Feature flags (e.g., premium settings). No personal data is sent.
In-app purchases: If you purchase Pro features, payment is handled by Google Play. We do not store payment details. Google's privacy policy applies to purchases: policies.google.com/privacy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the App (pairings, standings, backup)
- To display published tournaments on the web viewer when you choose to publish
- To improve the App via anonymous analytics
- To deliver feature updates via Remote Config

- Local data stays on your device until you delete the App or clear its data.
- Published tournament data remains on Firebase until you re-publish (overwrites) or we remove it. There is no automatic deletion.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Do not publish tournaments if you prefer not to share data online.
- You can disable analytics via your device's privacy settings or by opting out of personalized ads.
- Export and delete: Use the in-app backup to export your data, then uninstall to remove local data.
6. Children
The App does not target children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us.
7. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
